How To Handle A Selfish Friend

It is such a precious thing to be able to be a close friend to someone, and to have a close friend as well. This is something that one should try to preserve regardless of whatever one can in order to maintain the close friendship. Because of a close friendship one can discuss anything one wants to and share all the feelings without hesitation, and get a sincere advice in return on matters where there is any kind of confusion.

But even in a close friendship, like in all the other relationships, one has to do certain compromises. There is always a give and take. But of one takes this be an advantage in some negative way, then the things become worse. Most of all, the one who is compromising will start suffering and feel hurt. Such a thing can happen, when only one person is willing to listen to the other and the other person is not showing the same level of concern and care. So, for a strong friendship, both should try to build effective communication between each other. Whenever there comes a gap in communication, it should be tried to be built upon, or else the gap will go to the point of finishing the relationship altogether.

Here are a few things that one can do to handle a selfish friend. The first thing is to remember never to hide anything and be straight forward. Tell all your feelings and if they want to be true to you, then they will understand and will cooperate. Another thing which is also equally important is to be able to get to the root of the actual problem. Sympathetic behavior is the most helpful in maintaining and taking the relationship forward.

In the end, if you would help out your friend out of the problem, that will help to create more mature understanding and regard for each other. A true friend will not judge you, and understand the real reason and meaning of your conduct. This will also give value to your friendship. There is a special compassion that exists between friends and this compassion should be built upon for stronger bond.
